James (Ted) Donald Gann, Sr., age 72, of Rutledge passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2013. He is preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Alma Gann; brother, Charlie Gann, Jr.; and sisters, Joy Russell and Blendine Wilson. Ted is survived by his wife Joann of 51 years; daughters, Kimberly (Rick) Bean and Nicole Thompson; sons, Dirk (Kristin) Gann and Don Gann; brother, Bob Gann; sisters, Sallie Jones, Wanda Wilson, Earlene Robinson; son-in-law, Tony Thompson and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family. Ted worked at Ford Motor Company in Atlanta, Georgia for 32 years before retiring and moving back to Tennessee. In his spare time he loved building and restoring projects, gardening and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren; he was also a very skilled pool player and loved NASCAR. His favorite TV shows were American Loggers, Pawn Stars, Undercover Boss, The History and Discovery Channels. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Jefferson Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson City for their loving care and support. Also thank you to Smith’s Funeral Home for all of the arrangements and to everyone at Buffalo Baptist Church for all of the support. One last thank you to Kim Bean, from the family, for dedicating the last few years of her life to care for Ted her father. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Buffalo Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00-7:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Dr. Robert Boofer will officiate. The family will gather at 1:30 PM Friday, February 22, 2013 at Buffalo Baptist Church where Ted will be laid to rest at a 2:00 PM graveside service.
