Carol Jean Hill

: Carol Jean Cagle Hill of Rutledge born October 30, 1933 went home to be with the Lord January 30, 2017. She was 83 years old. She graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis on September 17, 1955. She was a girl scout leader and did a tremendous amount of volunteer work throughout Grainger County. She was a faithful member of Rutledge Baptist Church; and enjoyed raising her children, working in the garden, and watching her grandchildren play ball. She was preceded in death by her parents, Finis Ray and Noreen Cagle; and her husband of sixty years, Dr. T.J. Hill, Jr. Survivors include three brothers, Cleatus (Bonnie) Cagle of Deerfield Beach, Florida; Joe Cagle of Hickory, N.C., and Raymond (Jenny) Cagle of Lexington, TN; daughters, Amy Marshall of Meadows of Dan, VA and Beth (Greg) Bostion of Algood, TN; and one son, John (Lisa) Hill of Bean Station, TN. Carol had six grandchildren; Jason Shelor, Stephanie Bakely, Connor Bostion, Carla, Gracie, and Jacob Hill. In addition, she had six great grandchildren; Steven Belton, Christopher Kelly, Josiah Shelor, and Austin, Aiden, and Madison Bakely. The family would like to thank Amy Sexton and the Ridgeview Terrace of Life Care nurses, CNA’s, staff and residents for their care, love, and support that you gave Carol for the past 2 and a half years. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home with Rev. Chandler Vinson officiating. The family will receive friends 12:00 P.M. till 2:00 P.M. prior to services, Saturday at the funeral home.
