Ella Mae Bowen Brown age 93 of Rutledge passed away October 20, 2018 at Jefferson County Nursing Home in Dandridge. Lovingly called Momma Mae or Miss Mae, she never met a stranger, and her life-long advice was to always treat people the way you wanted to be treated. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her smiling eyes, bright laughter, and refreshing outlook on life. Momma Mae held various jobs, and she especially enjoyed her years of working with Douglas Cherokee as a teacher’s aide and cook. Ella Mae was sadly preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Faye Evans Swaggerty; sons, Carl and Claude Brown; parents, Silas (stepdad) and Annie McGhee. An only child, Momma Mae will forever be remembered and missed by her many surviving children. Daughters: Janice Bowen Clark and Vicki Brown Meade (Richard), Knoxville; Theresa Easterly (Winfred), Dandridge; Alicia Brown, Newport; Deborah Brown (Charlie), Morristown and Katherine Brown, Rutledge. Sons: Tommy Brown (Julie), Jefferson City; Dale Brown (Mary Jane), Newport; Kenneth Brown (Kim), Orange Park, FL and Joe Brown (Shiree), Greeneville. Grandchildren 14; Great-grandchildren 19; and Great-great-grandchildren 3. Ella Mae also leaves to cherish her memory a host of devoted cousins and loving friends, including Steve Brown, Kenny Dailey, Sissy Patterson, Ronnie Green, Johnny Green, Martha Ann Cameron, Jerry Smith, Clifton Owens, and many more. The Family of Ella Mae Brown would like to express our deepest and sincerest thanks to family and friends, Amedisys Hospice, Dr. Raul Swanson, staff at JCNH-Rogers Cottage and Smith-Reagan Funeral Home. The many acts of kindness and love shown to Ella Mae, throughout her life, will not be forgotten. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow.
