Betty Hixon, age 60 of Rutledge, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was a member of Caney Valley Church in Tazewell, TN. She delivered the Citizen Tribune for 45 years and loved her customers.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Ulysses Majors of Tazewell.
She will be deeply missed by her mother, Easter Greene; husband of 45 years, Steve Hixon; son and daughter-in-law, Steve Jr. (LeeAnn) Hixon; grandchildren, Gladys and AJ Hixon; brothers, Wayne and Steve Majors; sisters, Patricia Majors and Connie South; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Kathy Southerland and her very special dog Sassy that was always by her side.
The family will be having a private funeral service on Friday at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home with J.C. Morgan officiating. The graveside service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 11, 2020, at Tom Evans Cemetery in Tazewell with Jessie Surber officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Hatfield, David Allen Majors, Justin Coffey, Jared South, Spencer South, and John Reagan.
