Billy “Bill” D. Dyer, age 80 of Rutledge, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was retired from Grainger County Co-op and Zinifelx Mines of Jefferson city. Bill was a member of Mitchell Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pat and Beulah Dyer; and three infant brothers Bill, Bobby, and Joe. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gail Reagan Dyer; son Greg (Lindsey) Dyer of Rutledge; and daughter Kristie (Jeff) Workman of Morristown. Bill was blessed with grandchildren Josh (Angel) Workman, Hailey Workman, and Landon Dyer; great-grandchildren Zoey, Addison, Levi, and Sammy Workman. He also leaves his brothers Dallas, Al (Shirley) Dyer, James (Barbara) Dyer, and sisters Mable (Glen) Byrd, and Betty (Ron) Belcher.
The family wishes to send their thanks to Amedisys Hospice, and to his nurses for their care and loving support during Bill’s illness.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 24, 2020, at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home Chapel with funeral service to follow. Rev. Shane Pierce and Rev. Billy Couch will be officiating the services. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Mitchell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Josh Workman, Landon Dyer, AJ Frost, Ronnie Dyer, Jeff Whitt, Bryan Byrd, and Steven Hodge.
