Lottie Gross was born in Leslie County, KY, on April 18, 1933 to her parents, Daniel Harris and Cinda Lewis Harris. She entered her eternal home, with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on March 19, 2021. She taught school for 35 years in Leslie County, many of those years were in a one room school. She retired from Hayes Lewis Elementary in 1988. Due to the death of her mother when she was nine, she spent her formative years at Laurel Mission at Greasy Creek in Leslie County, and grades 8-12 at Mt. Carmel High School in Breathitt County. She had degrees in Education, Guidance, and Counseling, from Cumberland College, Union College, and Eastern Kentucky University. Since retirement she has lived in Grainger County, Tennessee. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, fishing, but her favorite thing was spending time with her family.
Lottie married Henry Gross in 1954 when he returned from the Korean War. He was the son of Dewey Gross and Rebecca Pennington Gross of Baker Fork, KY, in Leslie County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gross, her parents, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister Mossie Day, two brothers, David Harris, and Bob Harris. Also preceded by brothers-in-law Chrisley Gross, Johnnie Gross, Morgan Gross, Willard Gross, Elmer Whitt, Bruce Woods, Ray Pennington, and Wilmer Day, sisters-in-law Parlie Whitt, Mallie Pennington, Daisy Gross, and Ruby Harris, and son-in-law John L Boggs. Some beloved nieces and nephews preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Donnie Gross (Sandra) of Yeaddiss, Ky, one daughter, Patricia Boggs (Mitchell Davidson) of Bean Station, Tennessee, grandsons Anthony Boggs (Gina), Shane Gross (Rhonda), and Christopher Gross (Kristin), and granddaughter Rebecca Boggs. Also surviving are great-grandsons Hunter Boggs (Kaylie), Kyler Boggs, Preston Collins (Lindsey), Bryant Nantz (Kendra), Seth Gross, Landen Gross, and Ethan Gross, great- granddaughters Alyssa Seal (Cody), Arianna Looney (Zachary), Destiney Owens (Dalton), Destiny Gross, and Kassidee Seal. She is also survived by 8 great-great grandchildren. Also, surviving are three brothers, Lloyd Harris (Theresa) of Biloxi, Mississippi, Buster Harris, (Vivian), of Brownsville Texas, and John Harris (Isla), of Vermontville, Michigan. Also survived by one step-sister Glenna Cornett (Patrick) of London, KY. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Jane Harris, Jewel Mobley (Bill), Alice Woods, Mary Baker (Earnest), Irene Gross, and Lillian Gross. She is also survived by some beloved nieces and nephews.
