Geraldine Ellen Jones, 74, born February 17, 1947 in Chicago, IL passed away August 4, 2021 at her home surrounded by family.
Gerri was a woman of great faith. She accepted Christ as her Saviour as a young woman and was baptized. She loved her family, friends, and Lea Springs Baptist Church family dearly.
She instilled in her girls faith in the Lord Jesus Christ from their youth. She faithfully attended church, gave to missions, served others, and loved with a sincere heart. She also taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, sang in the choir, and gave to many charities.
She truly was thankful for the life she had and everyone in it. She loved working for Baptist Hospital and had fond memories of her co-workers. She loved cooking dinner for family gatherings, and playing with her pets, baby and bunny.
Gerri was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Herman Wolatz and Norma Pauline Meyer; grandparents, Harry and Bertha Meyer, Eric and Minnie Wolatz.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years whom she deeply loved and shared many travels with, Ray Allen Jones; daughters who she loved, Judith A. (William L.) Livengood, and Cynthia M Jones (Pete Collins); brother, Fredrick Edward Wolatz; grandchildren, Samantha J. (Darryl) Overton, William L. (Samantha) Livengood, James Allen German, Michael William German; great grandchildren, Wyatt Ray, Rose, and Eli Livengood; nephews, Brian Wolatz, Scott (Carolyn) Wolatz; niece, Caryn Wolatz. Gerri will be deeply missed.
Family will receive friends on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 am at Sunrise Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at Smith Reagan Funeral Home at 10:00 am to go in procession to the cemetery.
