Girtie Mae Hixon, 92, of Rutledge went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Hixon; daughters, Linda Sisson and Gail Dabney; grandson, Mark Jinks; parents, Ott & Louella (Daniel) Hixon; sisters, Ethel Delias and Gladys Hixon; and brothers, J.S., Burl, Taft, Teb, and Junior Hixon.
Girtie is survived by her caregiver/daughter, Rita Blair of Rutledge; daughter, Barbara Jinks of Morristown; caregivers/grandchildren, Beverly (Billy Joe) Morgan and Josh (Rebecca) Jordan; grandchildren, Scott Jinks, Tina Whitt, and April Saylor. She had 13 great-grandchildren, including Zach Whitt, Destiny Morgan, Jacob Jordan, Bella Jordan, Joseph Jordan, Willow Lewis, Melissa Lewis, Christian Saylor, Stephan Saylor, Celeste Walker, Elijah Jinks, Deseree Ford, and Cierra Jinks; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 on the way; sister, Peggy (Dewey) Jones of Knoxville; brother-in-law, Tommy Delias; sister-in-laws, Faye Hixon and Louise Hixon; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Friends and family may stop by Smith-Reagan Funeral Home at their convenience on Friday, November 6, 2020, between 12:00 – 5:00pm.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 6, 2020, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm in the chapel of Smith-Reagan Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at Avondale Baptist Church on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 12pm with Rev. Donnie Coffman officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
