Herbert Nelson Waldrop, 89, of Blaine went home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2020, at Fort Sanders Medical Center after a brief illness. He was a long-time member of Clear Springs Baptist Church in Mascot. Herbert proudly served in the United States Army in the military police. He served during the Korean conflict with Company B, 504th MP Battalion. Herbert was passionate about Tennessee sports, fishing and politics. He loved his family most and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Nellie Waldrop; father and mother-in-law, Vernie and Juanita Maples; sister, Mildred Luttrell; and son-in-law’s, Leroy Chasteen and Rick Hayes.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Mary Waldrop; daughters, Patty Chasteen and Tina (Rick) Ferguson; son, Mike (Tara) Waldrop; grandchildren, Tabitha (Joshua) Nicely, Sarah Davis, Trish (Matt) Krebs, Dylan Davis and Danny Hayes; great-grandchildren, Marvin and Chasity Nicely and Emmett and Brixton Krebs; and many extended family members.
Graveside services will be at 3pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at Clear Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Mascot with full military honors.
