James Lee Greenlee, age 53, of Rutledge, gained his angel wings on January 8, 2022.  After a four month battle with covid, our heavenly father called him home.  Waiting at heaven’s gate to welcome Lee home were his father, Millard Greenlee Jr., and his grandparents, Millard (Francis) Greenlee, and Millard (Ida Mae) Brooks.

Family left in mourning are Lee’s mother, Christine Greenlee; children, Brandon (Makaila) Greenlee, and Amber Greenlee (Benjamin Acuff); papaw’s lil girl, granddaughter, Lily Greenlee; sister and brother, Johnny (Jessica) Greenlee and Cathleen Greenlee Carroll.  With nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins left with loving memories of Lee.

SSgt. James Lee Greenlee,retired, was a member of the 278th ACR and fought for his country in the Iraqi War.  He was a highly decorated soldier and fought with love for his country.

He earned his Master Mason rank in the Masonic Lodge #44 in Rutledge, TN.  Lee also paid tribute to fallen military personnel every Memorial day by riding in the Smoky Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Ride that ended at Veteran’s Lookout on Clinch Mountain.

Lee loved the outdoors and was a lifelong sportsman.  Taking down many trophy bucks, ducks, geese, and various wildlife.  Teaching children to love the outdoors and carry on the hunting skills of our forefathers.  He also enjoyed civil war reenactments as well as participating in cannon and field artillery shows.  Lee is a child of God, saved and baptized in the Baptist faith.  The funeral is scheduled for January 13, 2022 at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home.  Visitation is from 6-8 with Masonic funeral at 8pm.  The burial is at Central Point Cemetery and is set for Friday, January 14th at noon with military honors.  The family wishes to thank all the loving friends that prayed for, cared for, and helped during Lee’s fight to heal.  With special thanks to Walker Trucking for all their help during his illness.  He fought the good fight and is resting in his Heavenly Home.
