Mamie (Wolfe) Odom, 87, of Blaine, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. She was a 1950 graduate of Rutledge High School and a 1954 graduate of ETSU majoring in education. Mamie was a loving wife and mother of over 65 years. She was a positive influence in the lives of many schoolchildren. Mamie’s teaching career started at Indian Ridge School. With its closure, she moved to Rutledge High School for a number of years before settling in at Joppa Elementary until her retirement in 1989. With such an extensive tenure, Mamie taught three generations within the same family on multiple occasions. Loved by all, she was a member of Bashert Baptist Church in Blaine.
Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, John Hale Odom; parents, William Sherman & Mary Harriet (Davidson) Wolfe; special aunt and uncle, Zilpha (Davidson) Cabbage and Hubert Cabbage; siblings, Sam Wilson Wolfe, Cecil Rue Wolfe, and June Ruth (Wolfe) Masters; several brothers-in-law; and several sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris (Odom) Akans and husband, Jeff; son, Darian Dewayne Odom and wife, Kelly; grandchildren, Cana and Kyra; brother-in-law, Bealer Odom; and many friends, family, and her church family.
Friends may stop by Smith-Reagan Funeral Home at their convenience on Friday, March 5. 2021, from 12:00 to 7:00pm.
Friends and family will meet at Blaine’s Chapel American Christian Church Cemetery on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 11:00am for a graveside service.
All those attending are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing to protect and respect others.
