Mary “Kathryn” Coffey, of Thorn Hill, passed away November 4, 2021, peacefully at her home. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, where she faithfully served as long as her health allowed. She was active in her community and worked alongside her late husband, son, and daughter in law building Oakwood Manufacturing. She was a devoted wife and caregiver. She was affectionately known as “Mamaw Kak”, to her grandchildren as well as others. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good practical joke even when she was the target of the joke.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Wilbur Coffey, parents; Lester and Artha Scearce, brothers; Jack, Raymond and Bill Scearce, sisters; Edna Davidson, Edith Evans and Mae Delzene.
She is survived by her son Steve (Beverly) Coffey, daughter; Judy (Jerry) Nye, grandchildren; Brandon (Aubrey) Kilby, Stephenie (Shawn) McGinnis, Zachary (Victoria) Kilby, great grandchildren; Tinley and Maylee Kilby, brother; Rhea Scearce, sister; Virginia “Jenny” Roberts, several brothers and sisters in law and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation Saturday November 6, 2021 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home in Rutledge, TN. The body will lie in state at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church on Sunday November 7, 2021 from 10:00am to 11:00am with funeral at 11:00am with Rev. Jerry Epperson and Rev. Denver Davidson officiating. Burial will follow funeral at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery.
