Mattie Dalton Atkins, 81, of Rutledge, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. She was a faithful member of Rock Haven Church until her health kept her from going.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Laura Dalton of Thorn Hill; sisters, Mollie Mallicoat, Lucy Winstead, and Helen Lamb; brothers, Landon, Kyle, Lillard, and Louis Raymond Dalton.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Monroe Atkins; sons, Benny (Kathy) Atkins, Delmas (Angie) Atkins, and Jackie (Rachel) Atkins; daughters, Reva (Warren) Moore, Mary (Tim) Longmire, and Alice (Elzie) Rowe; 9 grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, Jessica, Shane, Tiffany, Elizabeth, Hunter, Devin, and Lexie; 8 great-grandchildren plus one on the way; sisters, Gladys Davidson of Thorn Hill, Annie Bell Bowlin of Whitesburg, and Ruth Jarnigan of White Marsh, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 11, 2021, from 6pm – 8pm with a funeral service to follow at 8:00pm.
Friends and family will meet at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home on Friday, March 12, 2021, at 10am to go in procession to Dalton Cemetery in Bean Station for an 11am graveside service.
