Nancy Clyde (Cidy) Whitt Roberts, our dear sweet mother, left this dreary world on Friday, October 23, 2020 at the age of 85, from complications after treatment from a second bout of cancer.
She grew up in the Tampico community with parents, Walter and Elizabeth Whitt; sisters, Rebekah Whitt and Margaret Roach; brothers, John and Jim Whitt – all deceased; and living sister and brothers, Mary Sue Jackson, Tom, Petey, and Baskom Whitt. Her sisters and brother-in-laws are Bobbie, Janice, Mary Jo, and Rhonda Whitt, and Nelson Jackson, Jr. She has many nieces and nephews.
She married and joined Avondale Baptist Church, where she is still a member. She had three children: Brenda, Tim (Diane), and Jeff Roberts, all of Bean Station and in whom she instilled her love of music and writing.
She had four grandchildren, Michelle, Darren, Bridget, and Stacy Roberts; and three great-grandchildren, Blake Cotter, Elijah and Isabella Roberts. She had a decades long friendship with Sonny Boruff and Aarron Taylor of Campbell and Knox County.
She attended business college and nursing school, with her last job being at Ridgeview Nursing Home in Rutledge where she served as a nurse, beginning there shortly after they opened, and working as a nurse until she retired at 70.
She was known for her beautiful handwriting and always wanting to look her best. She had a passion for reading and has donated many books to libraries. She loved to travel with her sister, Margaret and go to the beach and other outings with her daughter. She will be dearly missed.
