Phillip Andrew Jarnagin, 60, of Rutledge, was called home to the Lord in the early hours of March 31st, 2022 surrounded in love by his family, Merry, Andy, Rachel, and Kaitlyn.
Phil was born November 5th, 1961, to Edith and Paul E. Jarnagin in Grainger County, TN. He graduated from Rutledge High School in 1980, and Draughons School of Business in 1983.
Phil married Merry Stonecipher Jarnagin on April 28th, 1984 and had two children Andy (1988) and Rachel (1992). He was a faithful member of St. John Paul II Catholic Mission in Rutledge. Working since he was 16, he had decades of experience in radio and TV, including but not limited to radio announcing, programming, live broadcasts, as well as advertising sales.
Phil never met a stranger and always met everyone where they were with a smile and a gentle attitude. The most important thing to him was his family. He was a devoted husband and father who had so much love to give and then some. His kindness and generosity touched so many lives whether they be friends or professional contacts, and it will also continue to touch lives with his incredible gift of life through donation in death. The family would like to thank the incredible ICU staff at Fort Sanders and Vanderbilt Hospital for their tireless efforts.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edith and Paul E. Jarnagin, grandparents, and nephew John Hargus, and great nephew Walker Wells. He is survived by his wife Merry, children Rachel (Kaitlyn) Jarnagin and Andy Jarnagin; brothers Paul Jr. and John Jarnagin, sister Julie (Randy) Burnett.
The services will all take place on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022. The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 2:00pm with Mass to follow at St. John Paul II Catholic Mission. Internment will follow at Grainger Memorial Gardens.
Children, friends, and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St. John Paul II Catholic Mission, 161 Bryan Road, Rutledge, TN. 37861.
