Rev. Hollis (Vern) Dunsmore met God and received his penny at 4:05 A.M. the morning of Wednesday December the 23rd, 2020. His occupation was as a sprinkler/pipe fitter in which allowed him to be involved in building the Watts Bar nuclear plant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, but more importantly, he has been a soldier in God’s service being an ordained minister for 50 years. In that time, he pastored several churches in the East Tennessee area, evangelized throughout many states, performed numerous weddings and was present at the conversion of countless souls to Christ. He expanded his ministry through song as a member of the Dunsmore Brothers Quartet along with several other groups over the years. His passion and purpose centered on the wellbeing of all those he met, both in their life here on this Earth and the condition of their soul for the world to come.
He is survived by his Loving and devoted wife of 64 years Mary Dunsmore. Son Rev. Derek (Bessie) Dunsmore. Grandchildren Callie Graves, Dayton Dunsmore, April Dunsmore. Great Grandson Hayston Graves. Brothers Bob Dunsmore, James (Sandy) Dunsmore, Ray (Kathy) Dunsmore. Sisters Velma (Claude) Killion, Teresa (Bob) Garland, Karen (Alan) Beal, Brenda (Jeff) Taylor. Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews along with surviving in-laws.
He was preceded in death by parents, Rev. Lonnie and Hattie Dunsmore; Stepmother, Bobbie Dunsmore; brothers, Loy Dunsmore, Rev. Glen (Peggy) Dunsmore, Mike Beeler, Greg Dunsmore; sisters, Helen (Rev. Blaine) Cupp and Susie (Charlie) Cox; niece, Angie Presnell; and sister-in-law, Blanch Dunsmore.
Friends may stop by Smith-Reagan Funeral Home Friday, January 1, 2021, at their convenience from 8-4:30 pm. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 2, 2021, from 12-2 pm with the funeral service to follow at 2 pm with Rev. Dallas Harrell and Rev. Mike Atkins officiating. Graveside service will be immediately following the funeral service at Grainger Memorial Gardens.
