Stevenson Lee Brown, age 94, of Jefferson City passed away August 28, 2022 at Jefferson Park at Dandridge. He was born on August 17, 1928 in Bean Station to Steve and Maude Burton Brown. The oldest member of Henderson AME Zion Church in Rutledge and a Korean War Veteran, he was a proud recipient of a Bronze Star.
Lovingly called “Daddy Steve,” he retired from Baltimore Gas and Electric Company and returned to Tennessee to live out his many remaining years with his loving family and friends. In April, he and several family members celebrated his baptism performed by Reverend Nathaniel Wilson of Martha Davis Church.
Daddy Steve was preceded in death by parents, Steve and Maude, his lifelong friend, Ella Mae Brown, his children, Carl and Claude Brown, and Patricia Swaggerty, his siblings, Sam (Helen) Brown, Gloria (James) Garner, Mary (Hugh) Thompson, Ruby (Joe) Treece, June (Evelyn) Brown, Eugene Brown, Claude (Mary) Brown, and Melvin (Dorothy) Brown.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his children, Vicki (Richard) Meade, Tommy (Julie) Brown, Alicia Brown, Dale (Mary Jane) Brown, Deborah Brown, Kenneth (Kim) Brown, Katherine Brown, and Joe (Shiree) Brown, Janice Clark, Teressa (Winfred) Easterly, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, siblings, Johnny (Marva) Brown and Charles Brown, daughter-in-law Della Brown, son-in-law Dean Swaggerty, sister-in-law Francis Brown, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A celebration of life for Daddy Steve will be held Friday, September 2nd at Smith-Reagan Funeral Home in Rutledge. The family will receive friends from 5-6pm, followed by the funeral. Interment will be held on Tuesday, September 6th at 11am at the Dailey-Eaton-Tate Cemetery in Rutledge and will include a military gun salute.
